Meet the Team
The Old Police Cells is a small team supported by dedicated volunteers and contractors. We also have the support of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex. Our staff and volunteers can be found here:
Staff
is the Museum Director and also does wider heritage work on behalf of Sussex Police. He has a teaching and consulting background and has worked in leadership positions in national museums
Ollie
is the Front of House manager and organises our tour guiding rota, answers visitor emails, helps with all manner of museum administration. She has a background in customer service and is qualified in museums & curating
Olivia
Volunteers
is an ex-Sussex Police officer and teacher. He has tour guided at the museum for around 7 years and is on our management committee
Nick
Peter
is an ex-Sussex Police officer who has tour guided at the museum for around 8 years. He is also on our management committee
was a Sussex Police officer for 31 years. Upon retirement he started researching the Brighton Borough Police Officers who served in World War One as a historian in 2016. Ian is a tour guide and schools education guide
Ian
is an ex-Sussex Policer officer and policing historian who manages our collections, catalogue and historical research
Stuart
manages our website, social media and newsletter. She has a background in art history and museum collection management.
Hollie
has spent almost 30 years in policing, and now enjoys researching police history and leading tours in Sussex and Brighton.
Becky
served for 30 years in Sussex Police in a number of different roles. He now teaches policing students as they study for their degree in professional policing practice. He has been guiding at the museum since it reopened in May 2026.
Jon
is a local historian who has conducted tours and talks in the Brighton area for many years. He is the Honorary Archivist and Curator of Rottingdean Museum at The Grange and an expert on the extensive churchyard there.
Mike
is a former Deputy Director and Non-Executive Director of various organisations before developing his interest in local history, particularly policing history. He has tour guided with the museum since 2026.
Ian
had a 40 year career in Education and Social Services in London and Surrey, after retiring she took up Tour Guiding in her home City of Brighton & Hove. Bonny helps run our education and schools tours.
Bonny
Emma
is a former MA placement student who helps the museum as a tour guide and as a researcher
is an illustrator and graphic designer specialising in sequential design. She supports the museum on a freelance basis, delivering a range of creative and design projects.
